I first joined TRA in Bayonne because it was local but ended up having the best BJJ experiences at this gym. Professor Sam’s teaching and training method has made improvements to everyone’s skill level in such short time. The gym also offers MMA, Muay Thai, and kids classes making it a must join for those who wanna learn about combat sports and get in shape while having fun.

I’ve always wanted to join a Jiu Jitsu gym, but was always hesitant because I would hear mixed reviews of other gyms. Professor Sam is not only a great teacher, but a great human being and it rubs off on everyone in the gym. Sam works with everyone, and you can tell he actually wants his students to learn and progress. Sam makes everyone feel comfortable, and so do the other students in the class regardless of experience level. They also do MMA, Mui Thai, No Gi classes, and you can go to every class if you’d like. If you’ve been hesitant or don’t like your current gym, TRA Bayonne is a must join.

Instructor Sam Quito has been my Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) and Muay Thai teacher for the past year, first starting at the Jersey City TRA location and now Bayonne. The class times work with my work schedule, and parking is easy to find. I look forward to start taking MMA classes there as well from someone who has professional fight experience. Getting strong and fit is also a nice side benefit to having fun.

For years, I've been searching for a good Jiujitsu school nearby. When the TRA Bayonne school opened up, I knew I found my home. 7 months into the year, I couldn't be happier.
The school is very clean, family friendly, with a spirit of respect and camaraderie. Parking is not a problem, which was a big concern for me. Other schools in the area has horrible parking and you waste time driving around looking for a place to park.
Professor Sam is like a father guiding us in our Jiujitsu journey. He is very patient and knowledgeable and has our best interest at heart. The other students are the nicest, no ego, just helping each other get better. I like that there's a class everyday so it fits most people's schedule.
The health benefit has been tremendous. I'm in the best shape of my life. Can't beat that.

TRA is a very inviting atmosphere. Professor Sam Quito is a kind and effective teacher. This is the place to go in Bayonne to learn BJJ, MMA, kickboxing, or to just get in shape and make some friends. They also offer kids classes. Check it out!

Great environment and great coach. Sam takes the time and has the patience to make sure everyone gets the techniques down perfectly. I've recently just joined but have to say this is by far the best training I have gotten so far. I can't wait to keep training here and learning new techniques each class. Also would like to mention this place is always kept Clean before each class. Like I said before, this is a great place for anyone who is interested in BJJ or mma!!

(5/7/24) Update: I’m still here! I’ve been training now for over 1.5 years (20 months to be exact). Recently got promoted to blue belt!
This place has become my second home. My team mates have become my extended family.
This is my absolute safe space outside of my actual home. I still love it here as much as I did on day one!!!

I have been a part of the gym for all of a week (no former experience, I’m just very interested in martial arts) and I must say, I’m happy I chose this one!! Prof. Sam Quito is very patient, very informative, and very kind.
I’ve had anxiety for YEARS about joining a school and, at TRA, I’ve found my home!
All of my anxieties about finding the right gym are out the window! (And let me tell you I over-think EVERRRRYTHINGGG!!). Not only is the professor awesome but so are my fellow students! Everyone here at TRA, is super encouraging and about their business! I especially appreciate the fact that they have welcomed me so warmly & seemed to take me under their wings. Something I definitely appreciate because I am 100% the newbie, lol. I look forward to getting out of work everyday & spending my evenings here & can not wait to further my experience and eventually add some colors around my waist!
